Abstract

PURPOSE:To reinforce a connection part easily and securely in a short time by utilizing the clamping force of a thermal-deforming body having a shape storage effect and the adhesive strength of a thermal-melting material. CONSTITUTION:For the reinforcement of the connection part of an optical fiber 1 connected by removing its sheath layer 2, a resin tube 4 made of a thermal- melting material having adhesive strength is fitted around the sheath layer 2 at the connection part and both ends of an optical fiber core 3, and a rigid tube 5 having less thermal deformation is provided around the outermost circumference. Further, a thermal-deforming body 6 having a shape storage effect is inserted into a intermediate gap part between them, and the resin tube 4 is melted by being heated to bond itself to the optical fibers, and also to clamp them by the retaining strength of the thermal-deforming body 6. Thus, the connection part is reinforced easily and securely in a short time to reduce stress applied to the optical fiber core 3, preventing transmission loss and the breaking of the wire.
