Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the effect of waterproofing, by opening an engaging hole in only one end of a rotary body so tat its rod is slidably engaged in the hole and by completely closing the other end of the rotary body, to prevent water from invading through the engaged parts of the rod and the rotary body. CONSTITUTION:When the invention is embodied as the worm wheel support mechanism of an automobile rearview mirror tilting device, an operating rod 19a provided to tilt a mirror holding plate 3 around a spherical part 4 is inserted in a worm wheel 11a integrally provided with a flange engaged with a worm 10a. The threaded part 20a of the operating rod 19a is engaged with a U-shaped wire spring 24a so that the rod can be moved back and forth in the axial direction when it is turned. The wheel 11a is a cylindrical bottomed one and is supported at the bottom 15a by a conical protrusion 18a. The flange 22a of the rod 19a is slidably fitted in the wheel 11a.
