PURPOSE:To improve the scavenging efficiency and to decrease the amount of the genertion of BCO, by adding a rotary sleeve and a magnetic pole roll to a cleaning roll and a scavenging roll and increasing the set common difference of a gap between both rolls. CONSTITUTION:A scavenging roll contains a rotary sleeve 7 and a magnetic pole roll 8. This magnetic pole has a positional relation shown in the diagram to the magnetic pole of a cleaning magnetic pole roll 3'. The cleaning agent trimmed by a trimmer 4 is carred on the sleeve 2 up to the position opposite to a magnetic pole N3 while being held by magnetic poles N2, S3 and N3. Both the repulsive magnetic field between N3 and N4 and the sucking magnetic field between N3 and Sa exist at that position. Thus the carried cleaning agent is shifted to the position of Sa on a sleeve 7 and then carried up to the position of Sb. A greater amount of the toner is adsorbed to the sleeve 7 by the bias function of the sleeve 7.
