Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain straight bundles of short fibers with cleanly flat end faces by first forming a long bundle of long fibers tied at regular intervals by binding tape and then cutting the bundle with cutters through the tapes binding the fibers. CONSTITUTION:A straight and long bundle of long fibers 13 is formed by binding the fibers with tape coated on one side with an adhesive in between claw 12 and claw 12' placed between bundle supports 9. Each binding tape 4 is touched by cutter 14 from the direction at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the long-fiber bundle 13 to cut the long long-fiber bundle 13 through each binding tape 4 to obtain short bundles of fibers. As a result thus obtained short bundles of fibers 5 will be such as that their end faces 16, 16' re practically flush with the outer edges 15, 15' of binding tapes 4, 4' on both ends of said bundle.
