Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce hardware by reading image information in its original format by achieving mutual conversion betwen a dot pattern of FAX and a ''kanji'' (Chinese character) pattern from a computer main memory by an FAX input and output controller. CONSTITUTION:When receiving a readout command from a main controller 12, an FAX input and output equipment 13 sends a one-line readout signal to an interface 36. An FAX16 scans one line to send dot image data and an interface 36 converts this serial data into parallel data, which is transferred to the BUF1 of an RAM34; after the data are transferred as much as a prescribed number of lines, they are edited into ''kanji'' patterns, which are stored in a BUF2. Then, the main controller 12 transfers the ''kanji'' pattern data in the BUF2 to a main memory 11, and the data are printed out on a printer 17, etc. When a write command is generated, the ''kanji'' pattern data from the main memory 11 are written in the BUF2 and then transferred to the BUF1, where they are converted into serial data before being transferred to the FAX16.
