Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent corrosion and also to detect a metallic pipe from the ground, by selecting the electric resistance of a conductive protective ring to a value which obstructs a corrosion current, and leads a high frequency current for detecting a buried pipe. CONSTITUTION:An insertion port 13 of a metallic pipe 2 is inserted into a receiving port of a metallic pipe 1, and between them, a ring-like lock ring 15, a protective ring 16 and a sealing member 17 are placed and are clamped to a flange 11 by a bolt 21 and a nut 22 through a junk ring 18. The respective parts are brought to electric insulating coating, but since the ring 16 has a projection on its surface, the metallic pipes 1, 2 conduct electrically. The ring 16 consists of a conductive organic high polymer material, and its electric resistance is selected to a value which does not make a corrosion current flow but makes a high frequency current for detecting a buries pipe flow. Its volume resistance is set to 20-3,000OMEGAcm. Therefore, corrosion is prevented, and a buries pipe can be detected by a high frequency current.
