Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure an easy and assured detection for the position and the depth of the buried metal pipe by detecting on the ground the magnetic field which is caused by flowing the AC current to the buried metal pipe through the two exposed areas.
CONSTITUTION: A connection is given via clips 7A and 7B between the two areas of rising pipes 4A, 4B and others which are connected to branch pipes 3A, 3B and others of buried metal pipe 2 such as the water pipe or the like connected via O-ring 12 of the insulating material in order to prevent the corrosion. And then the AC current is applied to pipe 2 to produce the magnetic filed. This magnetic field is detected by receiver 14 with the coil mounted and through the maximum and minimum sensitivity methods to know the position of pipe 2. Furthermore, the depth of pipe 2 can be detected through the 45°-method. Thus both the position and the depth of the buried metal pipe can be detected on the ground in an easy and assured way.
