Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a recorded image which is excellent in image quality and water resistibility by such an arrangement wherein an ink jet image is recorded on a recording sheet containing polyvinyl alcohol or its derivative, etc. with an aqueous ink and then the recording sheet is heated. CONSTITUTION:A required amount of recording sheet which contains polyvinyl alcohol, or its derivative, or their mixture is prepared. As said polyvinyl alcohol, it is most preferable to use such a kind of polyvinyl alcohol of which acetyl residue is less than 60% which is speedily absorbed by the recording sheet. When such a plyvinyl alcohol or its derivative is heated, dehydration reaction takes place in molecules due to their hydroxyl groups and it is caused to become such a compound that is not dissoluble in water. A preferable heating temperature is 100-250 deg.C and as a heating means, the use of a heating roll is preferable, but other means such as hot air heating, illumination of infrared rays, far infrared rays, etc. may be used.
