Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation by heat treatments and to eliminate the need for straightening work after the heat treatments by applying tension to a long sized object within its elastic limit, and hardening the same by high frequencies while maintaining that state. CONSTITUTION:After both ends of the work A which is a long-sized object having intricate parts B such as gear cut parts is fixed and set by means of chucks C, C', tension is applied in a longitudinal direction like arrows by using oil pressure or the like. The magnitude of this tension is the force by which the largest possible tensile force is applied to the work A within its elastic limit, for example, the force required for stretching the overall length of the work A roughly 0.1%. While this tension applied state is held maintained, an electromagnetic coil D is moved in vertical directions to heat the work A then to cool it quickly, whereby the work is hardened.
