Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a picture with fine grains, and prevent any moire from developing on a screen by providing both a stripe-like repetitive pattern, which extends in the direction slanting from the long axis of the phosphor stripe of a phosphor screen at a given angle, and a stripe-like repetitive pattern, which extends in the direction symmetrical to the direction of the said repetitive pattern. CONSTITUTION:A long axis 11 of a refraction surface 8 of a border surface B, and a long axis 12 of the refraction surface 8 of a border surface 7 extend in directions symmetrical relative to a long axis 13 of a phosphor stripe 10. Owing to such constitution, when seen from the outside of the screen, the refraction surfaces 8 of the border surfaces 6 and 7 intersect each other and form a pattern consisting of many rhombuses, a so called diamond pattern, as is indicated in the figure. Light discharged from phosphor stripes G1, R1, B1, G2, R2...... is refracted by the refraction surfaces 8, and appears on each rhombus part, which is a component unit of the above diamond pattern, by being dispersed into the pattern indicated by the figure. Consequently, the apparent grain size of the screen becomes small.
