Abstract

PURPOSE: To adsorb away both anionic and cationic bodies surely and satisfactorily by conducting pulse currents or recovery currents to the respective electrodes in the 1st and 2nd treating chambers and applying high and low voltages alternately to the adsorbents in the respective treating chambers.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st treating chamber 25 and the 2nd treating chamber 27 which are segmented respectively are formed in a treating tank 21, and adsorbents (a), (b) are pakced in both treating chambers. The 1st electrodes 28 and the 2nd electrodes 29 are disposed respectively therein, and the electrodes 28 are connected to the negative side of a DC power source E and the 2nd electrodde 29 to the positive side. Thereupon, pulse currents or recovery currents are conducted to the electrodes 28, 29, and high and low voltages are applied alternately to the adsorbents (a), (b) in the chamber 25, 27, so that the ionic bodies in the raw water shifting from the chamber 25 into the chamber 27 are adsorbed away by the adsorbents (a), (b).
