Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a liquid-liquid extractor of a centrifugal type, more particularly a centrifugal extractor of high safety used for reprocessing stages for nuclear fuel by so constituting the same as to facilitate disassembling and assembling by removing a rotating body from a casing and a base plate.

CONSTITUTION: A rotating body 40 is rotated in an arrow B direction by an electric motor 34. On the other hand, a fuel soln. wherein nuclear fuel is dissolved in nitric acid and an extracting solvent are supplied 55, 56 respectively in a liquid well 50. The above-described two liquids are supplied through the central opening part 48 of a lower end plate 47 into the rotating body 40 having a bottom end opening of a small diameter in the well 50 by means of the centrifugal pump formed of an impeller 49 provided to the lower part of the body 40 and a cylindrical body 54 secured to the partition plate 52 of a casing 33. The mixed liquids supplied to the body 40 with a pump 53 are separated to light liquid and heavy liquid in accordance with differences in specific gravity. More specifically, in the part of the body 40, the heavy liquid of larger specific gravity is separated on the outer side and the light liquid contg. the extracted U, etc., of light specific gravity is separated on the inner side in the body 40. The heavy liquid is recovered 65 through a essel 60secured to a casing 38, and the light liquid is recovered 64 through a vessel 59.
