Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled adhesive that contains depolymerized natual rubber or synthetic rubber latex as a base component, thus being suitably used to adhere between core ball and melton in tennis balls and showing high coating efficiency, high yield stress and dimensional stability.
CONSTITUTION: The depolymerization of natural rubber and/or synthetic rubber, preferably polyisoprenen is effected radically by use of a redox-system initiator containing a persulfate salt or by irradiation with ionizing rays. At this time, the adhesive force is adjusted to 20W180g/cm at 25°C in natural rubber. Then, when necessary, a tackifier, vulcanizer, or other additives are added, e.g., in amount of 20W60pts.wt. per 100pts. of the rubber component to give the objective adhesive.
EFFECT: Substantially free from sagging on coating to core balls and drying, produced balls are prevented from eccentricity and reduction in roundness.
