Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a plane luminous body useful for an illuminating plate, etc. by flatly arranging optical fibers between 2 pressurizing plates at least one of which is a light transmitting plate and allowing light to leak out of the plate so as to give luminescence when the fibers are bent by pressurization. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 3 of a bundled fiber 7 are flatly arranged between 2 pressurizing plates 1, 2 at least one of which is a light transmitting plate, and 4 corners of the plates 1, 2 are connected with bolts 8 and nuts 9. Light from a lamp or sunlight is introduced from one end of the fober 7, and by regulating the clamping state of the bolts 8 and the nuts 9, the fibers 3 are bent by pressurization, whereby light of the fibers 3 is allowed to leak out of the plate 1 or 2 to give luminescence. The quantity of light emitted from one pressurizing plate of this luminous body can be controlled only by regulating the extent of pressure applied to the optical fibers.
