Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform machining of a rod shaped material as in its state without causing the necessity for dividing the material, by providing an insertion hole of the material and adjusting screw, for adjusting an end face position of the inserted material, to a rod lens holding memeber and using said rod lens holding member. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a machining holder 1, made of the same material as a lens material 2, provided with a prescribed curved surface R in its top side and drilled with a through hole 3 in its central part for the lens material 2 to be inserted, and a tightening holder 11, made of metallic column having a spot facing 11 in its top side fitted with a bottom part of the machining holder 1, having an insertion hole 12 in its central part closely insertable with the lens material 2 further having a screw hole 13 in its bottom part for screwing an adjusting screw 14. Then the lens material 2 is inserted into the insertion hole 3 and 12, and its end face is adjusted by the adjusting screw 14, further the material 2 is fixed by an adhesive agent, capable of exfoliation after machining, and ground. In this way, the lens material 2 can be ground as left in a rod state without causing the necessity for dividing the material, and accuracy and efficency of machining can be improved.
