Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove gases and inclusions from molten steel simultaneously in the stage of transferring the molten steel from one vessel to another vessel by blowing an inert gas and setting the amt. of said gas and the fall of the molten steel at specific values or above. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of flowing and moving molten steel from one vessel into another vessel, the molten steel is flowed and moved while an inert gas of 0.01-1.0Nm<2>t-steel is blown from near the steel outflow hole of the one vessel. In this case, the fall of the molten steel to the other vessel is assured at <=2.0m. Then, the foam diameter of the inert gas is reduced considerably, and the degassing and inclusion removing effects of the molten steel are shown. Here, if the fall of the molten steel is <=2m, the size of the inert gas foam increases sharply, and when the fall is large, the blowing amt. of the inert gas can be decreased but it is required to be the lower limit or above, and the upper limit or above is infeasible in practice. If powder of CaO, CaCO3, etc. is blown together with the inert gas, the inclusion removal effect is much improved.
