Abstract

PURPOSE: A surface treating agent, containing a fluoroalkylsilane-modified silanol oligomer, capable of subjecting automotive bodies to the water repellent treatment at a low temperature, giving improved heat resistance and durability, treating locally by the printing method, etc., and rich in general-purpose properties.
CONSTITUTION: (B) 10W80wt% fluoroalkylsilane expressed by formula II (Rf is perfluorocarbon; z is direct bond, -O-, or -COO-; X is lower alkyl; Y is lower alkoxyl; p is 1W3; q is 0W2) is reacted with (A) a solution of a silanol oligomer expressed by formulaI(n is an integer 10W20), at 20°C for 5hr to give a solution of the fluoroalkylsilane-modified silanol oligomer. The resultant solution is then mixed with (C) 50wt% or less film-forming polymer to afford the aimed treating agent.
EFFECT: Improved water repellency, non-adhesion and stain resistance.
USE: Refrigerators, cooling utensils, other fields of electronic industry, etc.
