Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a synthetic resin molded article imparted with decorative characterisitics, abrasion resistance, weather resistance, etc. and suitable as interior or exterior parts of vehicles, by painting an article with a paint composed of an acrylic copolymer, and then covering the surface with a surface-treatment composition comprising a specific silicone polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The surface treatment of a methacrylic resin molded article is carried out by (1) painting at least a part of said article with (A) a paint composed of an acrylic copolymer containing 30W49wt% methyl methacrylate in the paint binder component, and (2) coating the article including the painted part with (B) a coating composition composed mainly of the partial co-hydrolyzate of (i) a compound of formula (n is integer 1W3; R is 1-6C hydrocarbon group; R' is 1W4C alkyl) and (ii) tetraalkoxysilicon and/or a mixture of partial hydrolyzates of (i) and (ii).
