Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the linear light distribution, by minutely displacing linear array elements themselves back and forth, without adding any optical modulating device. CONSTITUTION:An output signal taking electrode group 12 is formed on one surface of the linear array pyroelectric elements 13. Said electrode group 12 also serves as a light absorbing role. A grounding electrode 14 is formed on the other surface. The linear array pyroelectric elements 13 are fixed to a substrate 15 by a bonding agent. both ends of the substrate 15 are fixed to fixed plates 19 and 19' through piezoelectric holding plates 16 and 16'. The AC electric field having a constant frequency is applied to electrodes 17, 18, 17', and 18' of said piezoelectric holding plates 16 and 16', and the linear array pyroelectric elements 13 are minutely displaced back and forth. The output signal obtained from the linear array pyroelectric elements 13 is proportional to the difference in light intensity between neighboring elements. The difference corresponds to the differentiated value of one dimensional light distribution projected on the linear array light detecting group.
