Abstract
PURPOSE:To elongate the electron beam by setting the diameter and the pitch of the phosphor substance stripe at the opening of a mask to be applied with low voltage more than predetermined times longer than those at the opening of the mask to be applied with high voltage. Here the diameter and the pitch in the same direction with the phosphor substance stripe 13 at the opening 31 of the mask 7 to be applied with low voltage are set more than two times longer than the diameter and the pitch of the opening 30 to be applied with high voltage. Consequently the shape of the electron beam spot focused on the screen can be elongated in the direction of the phosphor substance direction without deteriorating the mechanical strength of the shadow mask, resulting in the reduction of the Moare effect.
