Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the titled copolymer excellent in low-temperature brittleness and impact resistance, by adding a molecular halogen or a compound which can increase the halogen content of an organic Al compound to a level higher than that in the first stage, in the second stage of the propylene/ethylene copolymerization.
CONSTITUTION: The first stage polymerization is carried out by use of a catalyst system based ona Ti-containing solid catalytic component and an organic Al compound cocatalyst of formulaI, wherein R1 is a 1W20C hydrocarbon, X is a halogen and 3≥m>1.5. Namely, propylene alone or propylene and ethylene are (co)polymerized under contitions including a propylene concentration of above 90mol% based on the sum of propylene and ethylene in a vapor phase. Subsequently, in the second stage, propylene and ethylene are copolymerized in the presence of the above-mentioned catalyst system and the polymer under conditions including a propylene concentration in a vapor phase of below 90mol%. At this time, there is added a molecular halogen or a halogen-containing compound capable of reacting with a compound of formulaIand reducing the number of m to a value lower than that in the first stage.
