Abstract

PURPOSE: To draw out ingot without requiring any dummy bar by drawing out ingot with a moving belt through fitting a mold shutting tool at the exit of mold and, at the same time, by preventing the swelling of ingot with supporting rolls.
CONSTITUTION: A shutting tool 14 is fitted to the lower part of mold 1, and its retaining part 14' is hooked to the retaining tool 15 of chain 12. Under this condition, a molten steel is charged into the mold 1 and cooled. When the solidified matte becomes sufficiently thick, the ingot is drawn out with the shutting tool 14 by rotating a sprocket 6 and moving belt 13 in the direction of arrow. When the retaining tool 15 comes to the position of sprocket 5, the shutting tool 14 is released from the retaining state, the belt 13 is stopped, and the ingot is supported by pinch rolls. On the other hand, while the retaining tool 15 moves to the position of sprocket 5, each supporting roll 9 provided on a connecting link plate 8 moves to a position between near part 4 of the mold and sprocket 5 along a guide rail 7, and thus the swelling of ingot in two directions of shorter side is prevented.
