Abstract
PURPOSE:To contrive to automate the chucking operation by a structure wherein chucking jaws are radially moved by the pivoting motion of a drive gear, which is engaged with the rack of the chucking jaw respectively and by the bakc and forth movement of a drive shaft in the titled device employed in numerically controlled lathe and the like. CONSTITUTION:The chucking jaws 8, on the front surface of each of which a live jaw 7 is fixed by means of a set screw 10, are radially, slidably and insertedly fitted in a plurality of grooves cut at the front surface side of a chuck main body 20. The rack 11 is machined at the rear surface of the chucking jaw 8 and engaged with the drive gear 22, which freely rotates about a drive jaw 21 supported by the drive shaft 9. The chucking jaws 8 are allowed to move back and forth in the radial direction of the main body 20 by interlocking with the rotation of the drive gear 22. The rotation of the drive gear 22 is performed by driving a ring gear 23 engaging with the drive gear 22 by means of spur gearing. The rotation of the gear 23 is performed by the turning force of the drive shaft 9 driven by a driving means and transmitted through a center gear 24 and an intermediate gear 25 to the gear 23.
