Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a blank material for working with virtually no losses by cutting of raw material by pressing a wire material which is smaller in diameter than the minimum diameter of a female die of a press and has been shorn to a prescribed weight with a male die of the press.
CONSTITUTION: A round wire material 1 of Al, Zn or the like which is smaller in diameter than the minimum diameter (a) of a female die 2 of a press is shorn with a shearing blade 3, whereby a shorn material 4 is formed. The length thereof is so set that the same weight as that of an intended blank material (slab) 5 is obtained. The material 4 is placed upright and is carried to the female die 2 of a press machine 6. The die 2 has an ejection bar 7 in the bottom part, is formed with a radius on the connecting part between the bottom surface and the side face and its size corresponds to that of a female die 8 for impact extrusion. The material 4 erected in the die 2 is pressed by a male die 9 of the press and is thereby formed to a slab which is removed by being ejected upward with the rod 7.
