PURPOSE: To prevent breakage of a sheathing material and perform stable hot rolling by performing hot rolling in specifying a thickness of the sheathing material covering an Fe-Si-Al alloy.
CONSTITUTION: An Fe-Si-Al alloy containing 4W12% Si and 2W12% Al is covered with a sheathing material such as carbon steel. A thickness of the sheathing material of this plate to be rolled is regulated by t≥3mm, W1≥3mm, and W1/W2≥0.2, where (t) represents the thickness of the sheathing material in the direction of the thickness of the plate to be rolled per one side face, W1 is the thickness of the sheathing material in the direction of the width of the plate per one side face, W2 the length of the alloy of the plate in the width direction, respectively. By using this plate to be rolled, hot rolling of said alloy is performed properly without troubles such as breakage of the sheathing material.
