Abstract

PURPOSE: A brake fluid usable under wide temp. conditions ranging from a low temp. to a high temp., which comprises a polydiorganosiloxane and a low- molecular polyorganosiloxane.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. polydiorganosiloxane (A) of formulaI(wherein R1 is methyl or phenyl and a mono-valent hydrocarbon group which is the same to or different from each other, wherein the content of phenyl is 25% or less; n is at least 10, satisfying the viscosity range) of viscosity 15W500cst at 25°C, is compounded with 4W30pts.wt. low-molecular organosiloxane (B) of formula II (wherin R2 is alkyl or phenyl; a is 2W3; m is 2W7, of m.p.≤20°C and b.p.≥170°C miscible with component A at 0W250°C.
EFFECT: The titled brake fluid is excellent in sealability for a brake system and usable as a brake fluid of DOT5 specification being used at a working temp. of 230W250°C, because it adequately swells a rubber cup without shrinkage.
