Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which produces a rubbery elastomer having excellent water resistance without staining the surface of the elastomer when the compsn. is cured at ordinary temperatures, consisting of a specified polydiorganosiloxane, a specified crosslinking agent, an inorg. filler whose surface is made hydrophobic, and a surfactant.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided the titled compsn. consisting of (A) 100pts.wt. of a polyorganosiloxane having a viscosity of 500W200,000 cst at 25°C in which end gp. are blocked by a silanol gp. (e.g. a silanol-terminated polydimethylorganosiloxane), (B) 0.1W30pts.wt. of an organosilicon crosslinking agent contg. an average of at least two organo-aminoxy gp. per molecule [e.g. the cpd. of formula I or II (wherein Me is methyl; Et is ethyl)], (C) 30W300pts.wt. of an inorg. filler whose surface is made hydrophobic (e.g. precipitated silica) and 1W50pts.wt. of a surfactant. In this compsn, usually (B) component or (B) component together with part of (C) component is separated from other components and packed in a separate container. The separated (B) component or (B) component together with part of (C) component is mixed with other components when used, to cure the compsn. Water resistance is imparted to the cured article by (C) component. By the addition of (D) component, the staining of the surface of the article is prevented, whereby a beautiful sealing material can be formed.
