Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An azobenzylamine compound.
EXAMPLE: 4-(3'-Aminomethylphenylazo)-N,N-dimethylaniline dihydrochloride.
USE: A substrate having high substrate compatibility to monoamine oxidase, and useful for the quantitative analysis of said enzyme. Since the compound has high reactivity, the enzymatic reaction time can be shortened, and the determination of the enzyme can be carried out easily and accurately using reduced amount of the biospecimen (1/4 of the conventional process).
PROCESS: The objective azobenzylamine compound can be prepared by coupling a diazonium compound with N,N-dimethylaniline. The diazonium compound used as a starting raw material can be derived effectively from aminobenzylamine wherein the benzylamino group may be protected with an easily releasable group (e.g. m-aminobenzylamine).
