Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the uniform titled polymer, in high reproducibility, preventing the deposition of the polymer to the wall of the polymerization apparatus, by heating a catalyst obtained by compounding compounds of Mg, Ti, etc. and an organic Al compound in an easily vaporizable solvent, spraying the catalyst together with the vaporized solvent into the polymerization zone, and carrying out the polymerization.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A high activity titanium catalyst component containing magnesium, titanium and a halogen as essential components (e.g. reaction product of anhydrous magnesium chloride, titanium tetrachloride, and ethyl benzoate) is made to contact with (B) an organic aluminum compound (e.g. triisobutyl aluminum) in an easily vaporizable liquid hydrocarbon (e.g. hexane) to obtain the catalyst. The catalyst system is heated to evaporate the liquid hydrocarbon in the catalyst and the catalyst is entrained with the vaporized hydrocarbon and sprayed through a thin tube to the vapor-phase polymerization zone, in which the vapor phase polymerization of an olefin is carried out to obtain the objective polymer.
