Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title compounds, economically, in high yield, by keeping a low b.p. residue exhausted in the preparation process of vinyl chloride monomer at liquid phase in an evaporator, and evaporating the residue at a specific temp. in the presence of Cl2, thereby chlorinating the residue economically, in an industrial scale.
CONSTITUTION: A low b.p. residue exhausted in the preparation process of vinyl chloride monomer is kept to liquid in an evaporator (preferably made of glass etc.) and evaporated at 20W200°C (preferably 60W180°C and under atmospheric pressure) without the formation of tarry substances and the addition of a decomposition inhibitor etc. Cl2 is continuously supplied in the evaporator preferably in an amount of ≥0.001wt% of the low b.p. residue. The vaporized gas is chlorinated with a small amount of Cl2 at 200W700°C to obtain the title compound in ≥90% yield, economically. Moreover the heat generation in the chlorination can be minimized.
