Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the deposition of polymer to the wall of a polymerization apparatus, and to stabilize the polymerization operation for a long period, by using a horizontal-type fluidized and agitated bed vapor phase polymerizer, extracting the unreacted gas to be recycled together with the overflowing produced polymer from the polymerizer, and separating both components with a cyclone.
CONSTITUTION: A horizontal-type fluidized and agitated bed polymerizer 1 furnished with stirring blades is supplied with olefin gas 2 as a raw material, the catalyst 3, and if necessary, hydrogen 4 and a cooling liquid. The olefin is polymerized by the vapor-phase polymerization, and the unreacted gas is recycled to the system. In the above process, the whole recycling gas and the overflowing produced polymer are introduced through the pipe 5 to the cyclone 6, in which the unreacted gas is separated from the polymer. The polymer is taken out of the system through the reservior 7, and the ball valves 8, 9. The unreacted gas component is introduced into the cooler 10 to liquefy and separate the cooling liquid contained therein. The liquid is stored in the tank 11, and the unreacted gas is circulated to the polymerizer 1 by the blower 13.
