Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce the titled copolymer useful as a photoelectric material or a material for electroconductive moldings in an easy inexpensive manner, by mixing an electron-donating phenylacetylene compound with an electron-accepting phenylacetylene compound and subjecting the mixture to irradiation with actinic light or to heating.
CONSTITUTION: An electron-donating phenylacetylene compound (e.g., p-aminophenylacetylene) and an electron-accepting phenylacetylene compound (e.g., p- nitrophenylacetylene) are placed in a glass or quartz reaction tube and, if necessary, a solvent (e.g., methylene chloride) is added. Then, the reaction tube is connected to a vacuum system and freeze-evacuated by cooling the bottom of the reaction tube with liquid nitrogen. When a solvent is used, dissolution and evacuation are repeated two times. Then, the reaction tube is sealed under vacuum. The contents are polymerized by irradiation with γ-rays or ultraviolet rays or by heating to about 120°C or higher. The tube is opened, a water/methanol mixture is added, and the resulting mixture is centrifuged to obtain the titled copolymer.
