Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce both the cost and the processing period of a metal mold, by hardening only the desired part of a material with the flame hardening and then cutting the hardened part by a wire cut discharging process. CONSTITUTION:A parent material 13 is heated by the oxygen-acetylene gas flame 12 given from a torch 11. When the heated part 14 reaches a proper temperature, the torch 11 is shifted successively to form a hardened part 15. After this, a wire cut discharging process is applied. In other words, hardened layers 15 and 15a of the material 13 which are haredened into the prescribed forms are cut and separated, and a wire electrode 16 is controlled so that the edges of the separated layers 15 and 15a are turned into cutting blades respectively. The outside of a cut wire 17 is turned into a die 18. Then the cutting blade, the inside of the wire and another cutting blade are turned into 18a, a punch 19 and 19a respectively.
