Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the firing force in a capacitor type igniter for an internal combustion engine, by conducting a discharge switching element in correspondense to the charging of a primary capacitor thereby producing many spark discharge during single firing interval. CONSTITUTION:The charge in a large capacity capacitor due to an oscillation booster will produce a plurality of pulses at a pulse generating circuit during the closing interval of the point while to perform many times of charge/discharge to/from a primary capacitor 2 by means of a switching element 8 through a switching element 3 for discharging the primary capacitor and a photo-coupler thus to repeat the spark discharge during the connection of the spark signal by means of a spark plug 5. Assuming the charge of the large capacity capacitor 6 is 100 times of the discharge of the primary capacitor 2 to perform 10 times of discharge, the voltage drop of the capacitor 6 during single firing interval is 1/10 while storing the sufficient firing energy.
