Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a frame memory of a signal transmission system, by setting the sampling frequency at a sufficiently low level. CONSTITUTION:For the dot sequential signal S read out of a frame memory 40, the high band component YH of the luminance signal Y is extracted through a band pass filter 52. At the same time, a multiplexer 51 separates the synthetic red primary color signal R' from the signal S. Then the low band component RL is extracted out of the signal R' through a low pass filter 53. Furthermore the components YH and RL are added together through a signal adder 56 to obtain the reproduced red primary signal R'. Here no problem arises for the practical use of the signal S as long as the low side band of the component YH of the signal Y in the carrier component is not mixed into the DC component of a chroma component. As a result, the sampling frequency f1 is set to satisfy fY<f1, where fY is high band component cutoff frequency of band pass filter 31.
