Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the linearity of a voltage-controlled oscillator for communication equipment by connecting a negative resistance generating circuit to a varactor diode through a series of inductances, and grounding their inductance connection point via a capacitance. CONSTITUTION:A terminal 20 is connected to a varactor diode (D) 15 through a resistance (R) 17; and an inductance (L) 24 is connected to their connection point, and an L14 is connected in series to the L24, and further connected to a negative resistance generating circuit of an R21 and a C22 from a terminal 12 through a capacitor (C) 13. The connection point 26 of the L24 and L14 is grounded via a C25. A control voltage is applied to the terminal 20 to vary the oscillation frequency of the negative resistance generating circuit. Said constitution realizes the control voltage-barrier capacity characteristic curve of the D15 which has an upward projection, the linearity of control voltage-oscillation frequency characteristics is improved, and the modulation sensitivity of a voltage-controlled oscillator is made constant over a wide control voltage range.
