Abstract

PURPOSE: In an induction heater suitable for graphitization, the insulation layer surrounding the substrate to be heated is doubled to increase its heat resistance, decrease the loss in eddy current and shorten the cooling time.
CONSTITUTION: When an alternate current is applied to the induction coil 2, an eddy current flows in the substrate of calcined carbon and the joule heat graphitizes the substrate at high temperature. At this time, the substrate 1 is covered with two layers of the first insulation layer 3a of carbon powder and of the second insulation layer 3b of carbon powder-silica powder mixture.
