Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the automatic measurement of a wheel base, by a method wherein each wheel is placed on each table, provided with at least 2 each of pressure measuring devices for load-measuring mounted along the longitudinal direction of the wheel, to find a horizontal position relation in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:A measuring table is supported by pressure measuring devices 2a and 2b so that the devices are mounted in a concavity 16 formed in a floor surface 15 and the surface of the device is positioned approximately flush with the floor surface 15, and the number of the measuring table 1, being equal to that of wheels 7 of a vehicle 8, is mounted facing and opposite to their respective wheels. The vehicle 8 is installed on the measuring tables 1 so that the longitudinal direction of watch wheel 7 coincides with the direction in which the measuring device 2a and 2b are aligned, and the measuring devices 2a and 2b measure the load applied to each wheel 7. The outputs of the pressure measuring devices 2a and 2b are inputted to an arithmetic unit where the weight, applied to each wheel 7, and a position, where the wheel 7 contacts the measuring table 1, are operated to compute a value of a wheel base.
