Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition that is made by adding a special high-temperature decomposing foaming agent to a polyolefin composition containing a flame retarder, thus forming a foam structure, when it burns and making it possible to reduce the amount of the flame retarder added and give flame retardancy to the resultant composition without any adverse effect on intrinsic properties of the resin.
CONSTITUTION: A high-temperature decomposing foaming agent whose decomposition point is higher than that of processing temperature of the composition and lower than its burning temperature, such as diisopropylhydrazodicarboxylate or zinc carbonate is added to a polyolefin composition that is prepared by adding a flame retarder such as decabromodiphenyl ether to a polyolefin such as polyethylene or polypropylene by 3W10wt% to give the objective composition.
