Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a paint amount scattered into the air and to enhance paint- applying efficiency, by reducing an atomized paint spreading angle without raising so much an air amount flowing into a paint-spraying zone.
CONSTITUTION: A cup-shaped atomizer head 3 includes a space 6 between its inner surface 5 and a rotary shaft 2, and a paint nozzle opening 8 is arranged in the space 6. Numerous paint-outflow openings 10 are formed over the whole periphery of the inner wall surface 9 of the atomizer head at its innermost part. A pressurized air passage 12 formed in the end plate 11 of a housing 1 is connected to a pressurized air source 14 through an inflow opening 13 at its one end and communicated to the space 6 through an outflow opening 12a at the other end. Paint is supplied through the nozzle and sprayed through the top end 17 of the atomizer head. The pressurized air is sprayed through the outflow opening 10 and the top end 17 along a direction A, too. When the atomizer head is rotated at 40,000r.p.m. or more, the central part of the space 18 comes at negative pressure so that air is inhaled and let flow out along a direction shown as a broken line B. The inhaled air is deflected toward a direction C by the pressurized air flowing along the direction A. In this way, the paint is deflected toward the direction C and its spreading angle is reduced.
