Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst which has long life and is excellent in high temp. durability as well as highly active at a low temp, by using a catalyst obtained by supporting a noble metal on an α-alumina carrier and a catalyst containing said noble metal supported on a α-alumina carrier thereof in a mixed condition.
CONSTITUTION: As a catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas of an automobile, a catalyst obtained by supporting a noble metal such as Pt. Pd or the like on an α-alumina carrier and a catalyst containing said noble metal supported on a α- alumina carrier thereof are used in a mixed condition. This catalyst is equipped with α-alumina characteristics such as mechanical strength, durability or the like at a high temp. and α-alumina characteristics such as high activity at a low temp. and excellent.
