Abstract

PURPOSE:To compensate a tracking error simultaneously with the movement of a head by storing a memory with a tracking error signal for one circumference of a track prior to the starting of a disk, and then superposing it upon a driving signal for the head. CONSTITUTION:The signal of a head assembly 1 which moves in a radial direction of a turntable 6 is supplied to a tracking error signal generating circuit 8 to obtain a tracking error signal, and a gate circuit 24 is turned on by a preparation signal 25 to write the error signal in a digital memory 23. A circuit signal detected on the circumferential side surface 18 of the table 6 written in the memory 23 by way of a phase loop coupling device 21 and a circumference address counter 22, and then read out and added by an adder 28 to a movement extent command signal 29, thereby driving the head assembly 1. Therefore, the tracking error is compensated simultaneously with the movement of the head, and an access time is shortened.
