Abstract

PURPOSE:To compenstate sensitivity of an optical detecting element by measuring an output when the optical detecting element array is illuminated with bight emitting means in a device that detects focusing from an amount of light received from many optical detecting element arrays. CONSTITUTION:An output from optical detecting element arrays 3A, 3B placed before and behind the surface equivalent to a film is converted to a digital signal and enters a central processing unit 6. A value when illuminated with a light emitting element 4 is taken in a compensation reading unit 7 and picture image information is taken in an image information reading unit 8, and after the variance in characteristics of each optical detecting element by a compensation unit 9, is sent to a focusing detecting unit 10. A focusing signal is sent to a controller, to actuate a focusing displaying means 12 and an automatic focusing mechanisms 13, 14 in responce to a system of a camera. Further, the emitting element 4 is mounted on the rear surface of a shutter 30 driven by a motor 29 and inserted selectively into an optical path and emitted.
