Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the presence of a metallic piece residing in paper, etc. securely by detecting variation in the Q of a resonance circuit when the metallic piece passes between the 1st and 2nd coils. CONSTITUTION:Through the operation of an oscillator 11, a high frequency signal of a sine wave is supplied to a transmitting coil 5 to generate a magnetic field 7, thereby allowing resonance circuits consisting of receiving coils 61-65 and capacitors 121-125 to resonate. In this state, paper money P wherein there is a metallic piece 2 is conveyed and when it passes between detection heads 41 and 42, an eddy current loss is generated at the metallic piece 2 to decrease the Q of the resonance circuits, so that their resonance signal A decreases in amplitude.
