Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the detection of misdotting with a vidual inspection by enabling the printing of oblique lines on a heat sensitive paper at an interval of one dot or several dots as provided on each block of a plurality of heat generating resistors with the depression of a test key. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of heat generating resistors arranged straight are divided into several blocks to form a heat-sensitive head with a matrix wiring, in contact with which a heat-sensitive paper is moved perpendicularly a train of the heat generating resistors to print a desired dot pattern. In a printer of such a type, with the depression of the test key 26, the heat generating resistors 39 are energized starting from (R1, R9 and R17) sequentially to (R2, R10 and R18), (R3, R11 and R19), (R4, R12 and R20),... whereby oblique lines are drawn on the heat-sensitive paper 11. But if the heat generating resistor R9 is damaged, locally broken oblique line appears on that spot thereby enabling easy detection of the damage.
