Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to perform a test under a friction condition with the equal condition under which a test material is used actually, by a method wherein a weight for adjusting an inertia mass is attached to a measuring beam with which a load cell makes contact through a rigid adjusting spring. CONSTITUTION:A sample T is held at a sample holder 13, and a pin P is held at a holder 26. A load is applied between the two holders by means of a load applying device 27. With a motor 2 run at a proper speed, a friction test is performed as the sample holder 13 is caused to reciprocate through a connecting rod 8 and a connecting lever 10, and a friction produced thereupon is detected by a load cell 30 mounted at a support plate 29 fastened at a machine frame 16 to be recorded. Through the exchange of a rigid adjusting spring 32, which contacts through a detecting end spacer 31 of the load cell 30, and the adjustment of an inertia mass adjusting weight 35, a rigidity and an inertia mass of a measuring system are adjusted. This enables to perform a test under a condition that is equal to a condition under which the test material is used actually, and permits the appropriate evaluation of the friction performance of the test piece.
