PURPOSE:To improve operability including assembly and adjustment by adjusting distances from a head cylinder to the exit of a magnetic tape and the gap of a head by moving the head in parallel to a tape run surface. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 26 caulked in a head fitting plate 18 and having a plain washer 25 is inserted loosely in a drum chassis A, an adjustment spring 27 is fitted loosely around the shaft 26 from below, and a nut 28 is provided on it. The head fitting plate 18 is provided with a head pedestal 23 which is adjustable upward and downward by using a screw 21 and a spring 22 in combination, and a control head 7 is fixed on th head pedestal. Further, an adjustment screw 29 is screwed into the drum chassis A, and the tapered head of the adjustment screw is brought into contact with the head fitting plate 18. Between th head fitting plate 18 and drum chassis A, the head fitting plate 18 is energized clockwise with a screw.
