Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent wear or damage of a clutch owing to variations in oil pressure by using the oil pressure in the cylinder chamber of a drive pulley as pilot pressure of a selector valve of the lockup device. CONSTITUTION:The oil pressure in the drive pulley cylinder chamber 28 is led to a port 150d as pilot oil pressure for controlling the changeover of a lockup valve 108 which shall change over the supply of actuation pressure to lockup clutch oil chamber 14. Consequently, when the oil pressure in the driving pulley cylinder chamber 28 is lower than a certain value, the lockup clutch oil chamber 14 is fed with the same pressure as in a torque converter 12, and the lockup clutch 10 is disengaged. When the oil pressure in the driving pulley cylinder chamber 28 is higher than said value, by contrast, the oil pressure in the lockup oil chamber 14 is grained to cause engagement of the lockup clutch 10. Thus half clutching condition can not exist any more.
