Abstract

PURPOSE: To support and fix damaged parts rigidly and to extend the life of a blast furnace by removing the cooling plate of the damaged part of the furnace wall, inserting a refractory reinforcing body through the opening into the furnace, and suspending and securing the reinforcing body to the damaged part then spraying shapeless refractories thereto.
CONSTITUTION: The cooling plate of the damaged part of the wall of a blast furnace is removed to provide an opening 23 in the wall. A refractory reinforcing body 22 is inserted into the furnace with a wire a wire 29 by utilizing the opening 23. It is then suspended and fixed into the furnace with a frame 31. Thereafter, the bod 22 is welded and secured to the shell 30 of the opening 23 by using a welding machine. Next, the cooling plate is mounted again, the relining part is then relined from the inner side by means of a granular refractory spraying nozzle of a relining device provided into the furnace through the opening of the blast furnace. At this time, the cooling plate on the side opposite to the part to be sprayed is removed and said part is relined by the spraying while it is observed through the opening made by this.
