Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a large amount of produced chips from flying away in machining a soft material such as light alloy and clay and recover the chips, by cutting the material as its machined part is located in a treating liquid. CONSTITUTION:A soft material 1 is immersed in a treating liquid 9 in a machining vessel 2 so that the material 1 is machined by a tool under the surface of the treating liquid 9. At that time, a liquid supply pump 10 and a liqid drain pump 14 are rotated to circulate the treating liquid 9. The treating liquid 9 in which chips 13 are diffused is sucked by the pump 14 through a pipe 12 so that the liquid 9 and the chips 13 are separated from each other by a filter 16. The separated liquid 9 is returned to a tank 7 through a pipe 17. The separated chips 13 are dropped into a bucket 18 to recover the chips. The treating liquid 9 is thus circulated to automatically recover a large amount of chips 13 produced as a result of the machining.
